Indian ambassador met Bangladesh's speaker; discussed parliamentary relations

India's ambassador held extensive talks with the Speaker of Bangladesh's Parliament on issues of mutual cooperation, legislative collaboration, and regional security, raising hopes that parliamentary ties between the two countries will be strengthened.

The ambassador of New Delhi held a formal meeting with the Speaker of the Bangladesh Parliament, during which several aspects of strengthening parliamentary relations between the two countries were discussed. The talks resulted in an agreement to establish a regular dialogue platform to promote bilateral legislative cooperation, to organize joint workshops and seminars, and to facilitate reciprocal visits among members of parliament. Both sides also emphasized that legislative support is essential in areas such as economic cooperation, water resource management, and border security, to ensure effective implementation of policies.

The meeting also raised important points concerning regional security. Both countries stressed the need to deepen counter‑terrorism cooperation, adopt shared legislative measures to curb cross‑border crimes, and maintain continuous parliamentary dialogue to promote peace and stability in South Asia. The encounter made clear that active parliamentary participation is necessary to reinforce mutual understanding and cooperation between India and Bangladesh, thereby giving new direction to the strategic partnership between the two nations.
