New Advances in Artificial Intelligence in India: Key Milestones of 2024

City News Mumbai•11 September 2026 at 04:06 am•0 views•2 min read

In 2024, the Indian technology sector has made significant strides in artificial intelligence. With new technologies, government support, and industry shifts, this sector is rapidly evolving.

In the year 2024, India's technology landscape recorded notable progress in the field of artificial intelligence. A rapid increase in the number of AI applications occurred due to a combination of new research, government initiatives, and private sector investment. Specifically, AI‑based solutions expanded in healthcare, agriculture, and manufacturing. During the year, several startups commercially deployed AI models, improving both employment opportunities and productivity. Behind these achievements, the coordination of scientific research, policy support, and industry demand was a key factor.

Indian AI Labs, a leading startup, launched this year a new natural language processing model that can converse in both Hindi and English with high accuracy. This model performs document summarization and translation tasks with more than 95 percent accuracy. Its use reduced the processing time for government documents by 40 percent.

The government announced a grant of 500 करोड़ रुपये under the new policy “Digital India 2025” to encourage AI development. This grant will help research institutions and startups develop AI prototypes and work on large data sets. The policy also includes strict guidelines for data security and ethics.

In agriculture, AI‑based weather forecasting and crop health monitoring systems are helping farmers make better decisions. In manufacturing, the inclusion of AI in robotic production lines is making quality control faster and more precise. In healthcare, AI‑driven disease diagnosis and patient data management have improved hospital efficiency.

However, concerns remain about data privacy and AI's impact on jobs. Researchers say that the need for large data to train AI models poses a risk of misuse of personal data. Additionally, there is ongoing discussion about the possibility of job losses for workers in some industries due to automation.

Balancing these challenges, India's AI landscape reached new heights in 2024, promising further innovation and prosperity in the years ahead.
