Bhivandi: The excitement of the Dahi Handi festival in Bhivandi is set to increase this time on the occasion of Janmashtami. The city’s main squares are being decorated with Dahi Handis offering prizes worth millions of rupees. The Dahi Handi festival organized at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk by the Kapil Patil Foundation this year has a grand prize of ₹2,83,000. A special point is that organizers have taken special precautions to ensure the safety of the high-level Dahi Handi teams.
Separate area for 8 and 9 layers
Kapil Patil Foundation's president and councillor Sumit Patil told the press conference that, in cooperation with Samany Youth Establishment, Sanskriti Establishment, and Sw. Kiran Deshmukh Mitter Mandal, this Dahi Handi festival is entering its 19th year. In the previous year, 148 Dahi Handi teams participated. This year a separate venue will be arranged for teams that will set 8 and 9 layers.
