**A Major Leap for the State in Education and Healthcare**

Mumbai, 21 Dec – Following the directive of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the establishment of the Maharashtra State Allied and Healthcare Council and its effective implementation have been accelerated. This decision will make the education, training and regulation of health‑care professionals in the state more capable and world‑class. It will be a pivotal step toward elevating the quality and advancement of medical education in the state.

*Implementation of a Nationally Updated Curriculum Across the State*
To provide high‑quality education for allied and healthcare professionals, a notification for the establishment of the council was issued on 10 October 2024. Rules to ensure smooth functioning of the council have also been drafted. Most importantly, steps are being taken swiftly to implement the nationally updated curriculum throughout Maharashtra from the academic year 2026‑27. This paves the way for students in the state to receive nationally recognised education and training.

*Creation of Four Autonomous Boards to Raise Standards*
To raise the standard of healthcare and bring coherence to operations, the council will establish four key autonomous boards: the Allied and Healthcare Education Board for undergraduate studies, the Allied and Healthcare Education Board for postgraduate studies, the Allied and Healthcare Profession Evaluation and Accreditation Board, and the Allied and Healthcare Profession Code of Conduct and Registration Board. The approval process for the registration of these professionals under central guidelines has been completed, and a notification on this matter was released on 31 August 2026. The state government is now fully prepared to initiate further action. In Maharashtra, extensive training will be available in over 50 allied health subjects such as physiotherapy, radiography, laboratory technology, ophthalmology, nutrition, and more. This process has also been set in motion.

*Transparency and Empowerment in the Healthcare Sector*
Under the guidance of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, appropriate coordination among relevant agencies is being fostered to implement the council’s work more effectively. This historic move will drive the creation of high‑quality professional standards, exemplary conduct codes, proper evaluation, and a highly capable and accountable system in the state’s allied and healthcare sector. In the future, this decision will be a major milestone for the state’s health system and patient care.
