India defeated England 2-0 in the T20 series held in Delhi from 12-18 September 2026. This victory restored India to the top spot in the world rankings.

India demonstrated its superiority by defeating England 2-0 in the T20 series held in Delhi from 12 to 18 September 2026. This victory restored India to the top position in the 2026 world rankings, while England slipped to third place. The series was organized by the Indian Sports Department and comprised five matches of 12 overs each. India’s captain Virat Kohli emerged as the leading scorer with 88 runs, while England’s chief bowler Johnson recorded the best bowling figures with 8 wickets.

The first match began at 10 a.m. on 12 September. India posted 139/8 in 20 overs, with Rohit Sharma scoring 55 runs and taking 3 wickets in 5 deliveries. England managed 134/9 in 20 overs, giving India a 5‑run win. Indian bowlers delivered figures of 5/23 and 4/18, keeping pressure on England’s batting.

The second match started at 5 p.m. on 15 September. India made 145/6 in 20 overs, with Virat Kohli scoring 78 runs and claiming 2 wickets. England replied with 141/7 in 20 overs, resulting in a 4‑run victory for India. Indian bowlers recorded figures of 6/20 and 3/18, while England’s bowlers posted 4/25 and 2/22.

As a result of the series, India reclaimed the top spot in the T20 rankings, and England was pushed to third place. The win further strengthened India’s standing as a world‑class T20 side and boosted its confidence for upcoming international tournaments. The Sports Department placed special emphasis on player fitness and strategy during the series, which helped the team perform better.

The chairman of the Indian Cricket Control Board (ICCB) said of the victory, “The team displayed excellent strategy and playing skill.” Meanwhile, the chief executive of the England Cricket Board acknowledged, “We will learn from this loss and work on improvements for the future.” Both sides praised sportsmanship and competition, and stressed preparation for the upcoming World Cup.

With this win, India has once again reinforced the reputation of its T20 team on the global stage.
