Meer Bhayandar, 2 September 2026 (City News Mumbai)

Meer Bhayandar, the Crime Disclosure Branch Office‑4 of the Vasai‑Virar Police Commissionerate has carried out a major operation and dismantled an illegal factory in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh that manufactures MD (Methylenedioxymethamphetamine) drugs. According to the police, a total of 21 accused have been arrested so far in this case.

According to the police press note, on 24 June 2026, during an operation in the Pragati Nagar area of the former Nalasopara, 112 grams of MD, valued at approximately ₹336,000, were seized. Subsequently, the case was assigned to Office‑4 for in‑depth investigation.

As the investigation progressed, the police arrested suspects from various locations including Mumbai, Nalasopara, Kalyan, Nerul, Jalgaon, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh. The investigation revealed that MD was manufactured in a shed built on a field in the Koshda Kala, Manda, Tehsil Meja area of Prayagraj.

The police team raided the site and seized 52 kilograms 932 grams of MD, along with large quantities of chemicals and laboratory equipment, including MMA (Mono Methylamine), Acetone, Hydrochloric Acid, and Chloroform used in MD production.

According to the press note, a total of 69 kilograms 759 grams of MD, cash, chemicals, and laboratory materials worth approximately ₹13.9 crore have been seized in the entire case.

The police say the accused network was involved in the manufacturing of MD, supply of chemicals and laboratory materials, drug smuggling, sales, and financial transactions. The investigation also revealed indications of an interstate network.

The police have demolished the illegal MD drug manufacturing factory located in Prayagraj. Further investigation into the case is ongoing.
