Two theft incidents in Bhivandi; SIR's scanner finds no trace on woman's gold chain.

Two separate incidents of theft in Bhiwandi city have raised questions on the police security arrangements. In one case, two scanners kept for election work were stolen, while in the other case, taking advantage of the crowd, a gold bangle worth about Rs 60 thousand was stolen from the hand of a woman. In both the cases, the police have registered a case against unknown accused and started investigation.

The first case is from Bhiwandi city police station area. According to the police, two HP ScanJet Pro scanners were kept by Thane District Election Office for the SIR program at Varhaldevi Mangalmata Bhawan Hall. The complainant had kept both the scanners in the room at around 6 pm on August 31. It is alleged that the door of the room was left open and during this time the unknown thief ran away with both the scanners.

The total value of the stolen scanners is said to be around Rs 40 thousand. Bhiwandi city police has registered a case under section 305 of BNS. Police are now examining the footage of CCTV cameras installed at the scene and nearby. Havildar Sachin Hande is investigating the case.

The second incident took place at Saibaba Market in Teenbatti at around 2:30 pm on September 8. According to the police, an unidentified thief amidst the crowd removed a gold bangle from the right hand of a woman.

There was a figure of Ganapati carved on the bracelet. Its weight is said to be around 13.910 grams and its price is said to be around Rs 60 thousand. After receiving the complaint of the incident, Nizampura police has registered a case in crime register number 867/2026 under section 303 (2) of BNS. Police sub-inspector Gogavale is investigating the case.
