After 15 complaints, Rayyan Enterprises receives notice from Manpa.

Rayan Enterprises is handling waste management in Bhivandi city, but the Municipal Corporation of Mumbai (Manpa) has taken a strict stance on the company's practices. Based on 15 complaints against the company and alleged irregularities uncovered during the operational audit, the Bhivandi Nizampur Municipal Corporation's solid waste management department has issued a notice demanding reasons. The company has been asked to provide a written explanation within three days.

According to Manpa, the company has been instructed to prohibit the use of banned plastics, seize and penalize offenders, fine waste dumpers, and deploy sufficient manpower at waste hotspots and GVIP points. The notice accuses the company of failing to make the expected progress in these tasks.

The notice states that the expected action against banned plastics was not taken, and that records of seizures and penalties were not regularly maintained. Despite the increase in GVIP points and waste hotspots in the city, Manpa has expressed its displeasure over the insufficient deployment of staff.

The notice also mentions complaints that company employees allegedly collected fines in an unauthorized manner. Manpa reports that complaints were received through written submissions, media outlets, and a call centre.

The review of daily fine collection, seizure actions, and revenue deposited into the Manpa account has not yielded the expected results. Manpa has warned that if a response is not provided within three days or if the explanation is unsatisfactory, administrative and punitive action will be taken under the contract terms and applicable regulations.

The notice was issued by Assistant Commissioner (Solid Waste Management) Faisal Taatli.
