Central Government Announces New Economic Policy: Emphasis on Tax Reforms, Investment Incentives, and Job Creation

City News Mumbai•4 September 2026 at 05:14 am•0 views•2 min read

The Government of India announced a new economic policy today, which includes measures for simplifying the tax system, encouraging investment, and creating jobs. This policy is considered to be crucial for the country’s economic growth and inclusive development.

The central government today announced a new economic policy during its annual budget session, focusing on tax reform, investment incentives, and job creation. The policy aims to boost domestic production, attract foreign investment, and reduce unemployment. The government stated that the policy is based on lessons from the previous policy and has been tailored to align with global economic changes.

Under the new policy, income tax and corporate tax will be gradually reduced, easing the tax burden on small and medium enterprises. Additionally, 100% approval will be allowed for foreign direct investment (FDI) in certain sectors, accelerating efforts to attract investors.

Beyond investment incentives, the policy places special emphasis on job creation. The government plans to create 1 million new jobs through public‑private partnership (PPP) infrastructure projects. It also includes new funding schemes to promote skill development programs.

Economic experts have praised the policy. Management consultant Gita Sharma said, “Tax reform and investment incentives will help small enterprises grow and increase employment opportunities.” Meanwhile, Rajiv Patil, head of the National Institute of Economic Research, warned that transparency and monitoring are essential for implementation.

A comparison with the previous economic policy reveals clear differences. The earlier policy offered limited tax cuts and lacked clear provisions for investment incentives. The new policy adopts a comprehensive approach by integrating these two aspects.

Challenges include bureaucratic complexity and the potential for fiscal deficits in implementation. The government has explicitly stated that necessary adjustments will be made in the budget.

In summary, the new economic policy announced by the central government aims to accelerate economic growth and promote inclusive development. If implemented correctly, it could help India advance in global competition.
