Jainter Mentor set a new benchmark in renewable energy by inaugurating a 150‑megawatt solar power plant in Rajasthan, providing clean electricity to 50,000 homes.
Jainter Minter, one of India’s leading renewable energy providers, officially inaugurated a 150‑megawatt solar power plant in the Jalore district of Rajasthan on 15 September 2024. The project was launched to meet the company’s 2023‑24 financial year energy production targets and employs 30,000 high‑efficiency solar panels. The plant is expected to supply clean electricity to approximately 50,000 residential and industrial customers. Under this project, the company aims to strengthen the regional power grid while also enhancing environmental sustainability.
The plant arranges 30,000 solar panels at 2.5‑meter spacing, giving a total surface area of 75,000 square meters. Each panel has an efficiency of 20.5%, resulting in a total electrical generation capacity of 150 megawatt. A 15‑kilometer transmission line is connected to the plant, enabling immediate transfer of energy into the power grid. The plant is expected to generate approximately 250 gigawatt‑hours of energy annually, meeting about 5% of the state’s electricity demand.
Jainter Minter selected this project under its “Green Energy 2030” strategy, which aims to install a total of 500 megawatt of solar capacity by 2025. To achieve this goal, the company has planned two new 200‑megawatt plants in 2024, to be completed by the end of next year. Additionally, Jainter Minter has launched an energy education program for local communities to raise energy awareness in rural areas.
The environmental benefits of the project include an annual reduction of 200,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions and the protection of 1.5 million square meters of wildlife habitat. To minimize impact on local water resources, a water recycling system has been installed beneath the panels, enabling 90% utilization of rainwater.
Chief Executive Officer Amit Sharma of Jainter Minter said, “This plant not only increases our energy production capacity but also creates new employment opportunities for local communities.” He added, “Our goal is to provide clean and affordable energy to every Indian household.”
This step by Jainter Minter reaffirms India’s leading role in renewable energy and paves the way for achieving energy self‑reliance goals in the coming decade.
