From selling bhurji 25 years ago to a multi‑crore property? Narendra Mehta raises questions about Minister Sarnaik’s financial journey.

On the allegations made by Minister Pratap Sarnike in the Urban Development Department, MLA Narendra Mehta retorted that Sarnike has levelled accusations against him without facts and based on half‑baked information. Mehta said that Sarnike repeatedly makes accusations, but he does not have the full details of each case.

Mehta also questioned Sarnike’s statement that a retired police officer was his partner and that Rs 20 crore were transferred on the same day. He clarified that the police officer in question retired from service about 35 years ago and subsequently entered the building business.

Mehta sarcastically remarked, “When I used to wander around in half‑pants, that officer had already retired. If a police officer can become a builder after retirement, what is wrong with that? Minister Sarnike himself sold bhurji 25 years ago and today owns property worth crores, so why can’t a police officer become a builder?”

Mehta further alleged that the police officer wanted his land for Sarnike. According to him, Sarnike allegedly acquired government land in the same area at a low price, and adjacent to it was the officer’s plot, which the officer refused to sell to Sarnike.

However, these allegations have not been independently verified, and the concerned party’s response to the claim is still pending.

Mehta also clarified on the 7/11 issue, stating, “I have no involvement in this whole matter. Sarnike is unnecessarily dragging my name into the 7/11 case.”

Regarding the contempt of court allegation, Mehta said that a mutual settlement had been reached between the two sides, after which the concerned project received OC and CC. He accused Sarnike of not having the full details of the case and of surfacing a new accusation every week.

In conclusion, Mehta described it as a political attack, saying that the public has rejected him and he has not yet recovered from the shock of the crushing defeat in the municipal elections. That is why accusations continue to be levied against him daily.
