PIB's latest press release: 5% increase in the 2025-26 budget and new economic plans

City News Mumbai•8 September 2026 at 04:18 am•2 views•2 min read

P.I.B. has announced a 5% increase in the budget for the fiscal year 2025-26. This budget places special emphasis on agriculture, infrastructure, and health. The new schemes are focused on job creation and poverty eradication.

PIB, the official press information bureau of the Government of India, released a new press release at 10:00 a.m. today, summarizing the key points of a 5% increase in the budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2025‑26. The document includes detailed descriptions of the government's economic strategy, investment plans, and social welfare programmes. According to the release, this step was taken to stimulate domestic demand and strengthen long‑term economic stability.

The projected revenue for fiscal year 2025‑26 is 23 lakh crore rupees, while expenditure is set at 23.6 lakh crore rupees, reflecting an additional 5% investment. The budget places special emphasis on agriculture, road construction, digital infrastructure, and healthcare. In particular, investment in the agricultural sector has been increased by 1.2 lakh crore rupees, expected to benefit farmers directly. Additionally, 0.8 lakh crore rupees has been allocated for smart city schemes in urban and rural areas.

These changes will have the greatest impact on job creation in both rural and urban areas. The government's goal is to create 10 lakh new job opportunities by the end of 2025‑26. At the same time, the government is attempting to control consumer prices through a reduction in taxes on imported goods. The budget also includes a new subsidy of 0.5 lakh crore rupees for the energy sector, which will help accelerate clean energy projects.

Finance Minister Anil Shankar, commenting on the budget, said, “This budget will write a new chapter for India's economic progress. By increasing this year's investment, we will strengthen the country's competitiveness.” He also stated that the government's objective is to ensure that all social classes receive equal benefits. PIB's release made it clear that the government's aim is to reduce the poverty rate from 10% to 5% by 2025‑26.

With this new budget announcement, the Government of India has further strengthened its economic strategy. The document issued by PIB indicates that the government's aim is to make all citizens economically secure and prosperous. This step is expected to bring a positive change in the country's economic direction.
