Mumbai, dated 2 (Anant Nalaavde) – The issue of substandard food being served to students in the hostel of a government polytechnic in Pune came directly to the centre of a political controversy, and based on the subsequent events, BJP youth wing was publicly rebuked by BJP state president Ravindra Chavan on Wednesday.

After those students rushed to the Shiv Sena youth leader Amit Thackeray over their food issue, Thackeray went to the hostel and questioned the officials.

However, in protest against this incident, BJP youth wing workers staged an aggressive protest on Tuesday outside the residence of Shiv Sena president Raj Thackeray at Shivaji Park in Mumbai.

Consequently, during the BJP executive committee meeting in Mumbai on Wednesday, while guiding the youth wing office bearers, Chavan expressed strong aversion to this type of protest, and he sharply rebuked the youth wing office bearers.

Chavan initially clarified that it is not appropriate to immediately take to the streets in response to a statement made by opponents or any individual.

It became clear from the meeting discussion that Chavan's statement directly referred to the protest staged over Amit Thackeray's issue.

Simultaneously, the party's youth workers also expressed the expectation that, instead of responding to every political statement with protest, they should work on study, ideology, organization, and public issues.

The entire controversy, however, did not start politically, but with the question of the students' meals.

Students residing in the hostel within the premises of the renowned government polytechnic in Pune, complaining of receiving substandard lunch and dinner daily, had rushed to Amit Thackeray.
