During the holy Parikrama festival of Jainism, a controversy that began over the Sevan Square Academy's directive not to bring non‑veg items such as onions, garlic, potatoes, beetroot, other tuber crops into students' boxes has now taken a new turn. After a warning of protest and agitation by MNS, the school administration allegedly withdrew its disputed directive and removed it from the website. Recent reports on the whole case also confirm the school’s directive and the MNS opposition.

According to MNS leader Sachin Pople, after their protest, MNS Thane district chief Avinash Jadhav also gave a clear warning to the school administration that if the relevant directive was not withdrawn by evening, MNS would stage a movement. Following that, the school administration removed the directive from its website.

Sachin Pople claimed that under public pressure, the school administration linked to BJP legislator Narendra Mehta finally had to bend. He said that society cannot be divided on the basis of veg and non‑veg and it is not appropriate to impose religious rules on an individual’s personal food preferences.

Pople said, “This whole episode has proved that even the ruling side must bow before public opinion.”

He also thanked journalists for bringing this issue to prominence. He said the media highlighted the case effectively, which shaped public opinion and ultimately forced the school administration to retract its decision.

It is noteworthy that the Parikrama‑related directive of Sevan Square Academy had sparked controversy at political and social levels in recent days. The school described it as an appeal made in the context of religious sentiment and the Parikrama festival, while MNS accused it of interfering in students’ diet on religious grounds.
