Bhiwandi: A major accident on the Bhiwandi–Wadpe section of the Mumbai–Nasik Expressway was averted on Sunday night. At the boundary of Bhinara village, a truck’s brakes failed abruptly. Consequently, the driver lost control of the vehicle and the truck collided with the divider. Fortunately, there are no reports of casualties in the incident.
According to the information received, truck number MH 47 BU 6155 was traveling from Bhiwandi to Wadpe along the Mumbai–Nasik Expressway. Due to the sudden brake failure near Bhinara, the driver could not manage the vehicle. The truck, uncontrolled, crashed straight into the divider.
According to locals, this is the third incident in this area of Bhinara in the past two months. Repeated accidents involving heavy vehicles have raised questions about road safety as well as vehicle maintenance and fitness arrangements.
Local residents say that the authorities should take the issue of regular inspections of heavy vehicles and verification of fitness certificates seriously. There is public outrage over whether the administration will wake up only after a major accident. Citizens have demanded that the relevant department take immediate action to improve safety arrangements on this route and to inspect heavy vehicles.
