Since 2007, Torrent Power Limited has been operating in Bhivandi as an electricity distribution franchise, and its annual Ganesh festival “Torrentcha Bappa” has completed 20 years this year. The five-day Ganesh festival was celebrated enthusiastically with devotion, cultural programs, and public participation. A large number of consumers and citizens visited the Ganesh pavilion to have a darshan of Lord Ganesh.
According to Torrent Power, the company has participated in social and community activities along with electricity distribution services over the past two decades. In addition to the Ganesh festival, Ramadan Iftar, Janmashtami‑Dahi Handi, blood‑donation camps, programs in old‑age homes, nutrition programs for tribal children, de‑addiction awareness sessions, and various other social and public‑awareness initiatives have been organized.
Officials and dignitaries took part
During the 20th‑year celebration of “Torrentcha Bappa,” officials of the Bhivandi Nijampur City Municipal Corporation, senior police officers, elected representatives, officials of social organisations, and dignitaries from various fields visited the Ganesh pavilion. Senior officials of Torrent Power welcomed them at that time.
“Five temples, five stories, one festival” was the attraction
During the Ganesh festival, various cultural competitions were organized for the company’s employees and their families. This year’s “Five temples, five stories, one festival” competition was a special highlight. Teams creatively showcased the historical and cultural heritage of Maharashtra’s Ashtavinayak temples—Varadvinayak (Mahad), Mahaganpati (Ranjangaon), Vighneshwar (Ozar), Chintamani (Theur), and Girijatmaja (Lenyadri).
In addition, eco‑friendly Ganesh idol making, rangoli, singing, and dance competitions were also held. Employees and their family members participated enthusiastically.
The public‑relations officer of Torrent Power said that for the past 20 years, “Torrentcha Bappa” has been a platform to celebrate Indian culture, tradition, and diversity. He added that the affection and cooperation of Bhivandi residents are the biggest success of the event, and the company remains committed to strengthening social engagement in the future.
