Virar Police succeeded in arresting two accused within 24 hours who had kidnapped a construction businessman and demanded 10 lakh rupees in cash and gold jewelry as ransom, showing a revolver as intimidation. This action was carried out by Crime Investigation Room‑3, Virar Police.
According to the police, on 2 October 2026, accused Rohit Subhash Jangid (27) and his two associates took a construction businessman from his construction site, seated him in a vehicle, and transported him to the former Hotel Red Carpet in Nalasopara. There, the accused allegedly used a revolver to intimidate and kidnap the businessman. They then threatened to kill him and demanded 10 lakh rupees in cash and gold jewelry worn on his body in exchange for his release.
The case was registered at Pelhār Police Station on the victim's complaint. Given the seriousness of the case, senior officials instructed the prompt arrest of the accused.
Crime Investigation Room‑3, Virar visited the scene and initiated a parallel investigation. Based on technical examination and covert intelligence, the police identified the accused as Rohit Subhash Jangid, age 27, and Vansh Shivkumar Gupta alias Monu, age 21.
Both accused were taken into custody on 4 October 2026. The police recovered from their possession a Kretā car used in the crime, a fake number plate, the 10 lakh rupees cash demanded from the victim, and gold jewelry weighing 67.04 grams. The total value of the recovered items was reported to be approximately 40 lakh 75 thousand rupees.
The police presented both accused to Pelhār Police Station for further legal action. Investigation of the case continues.
In this operation, Police Commissioner Niket Kaushik, Additional Police Commissioner Sanjay Shinde, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Doifode, and other senior officials guided Crime Investigation Room‑3 and the Cyber Police Team, which played a crucial role.
