Mira-Bhiander Municipal Corporation extends help to drought‑affected farmers

Seeing the severe drought situation in various districts of Maharashtra, the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation has decided to provide assistance of 1 crore rupees to drought-affected farmers through the Chief Minister Assistance Fund. This decision was taken unanimously. Mayor Dimple Vinod Mehta conveyed this information during a press conference held at the municipal headquarters on Monday.
Due to the drought, farmers, field labourers, workers, and citizens of rural areas across many parts of the state are facing shortages of water, fodder for animals, availability of food grains, economic crises related to farming, and employment issues. Mayor Dimple Mehta said that standing with farmers during such crises is our social responsibility.
The mayor explained that this assistance campaign will involve various sections of Mira-Bhayandar city. Developmental bodies, industrialists, social institutions, traders, various organizations, and citizens are urged to contribute according to their capacity to help drought-affected farmers.
The assistance amount deposited in the Mayor Assistance Fund will be delivered to farmers in drought-affected areas through the Chief Minister Assistance Fund. Efforts will be made to ensure that the maximum assistance from Mira-Bhayandar city reaches farmers in the affected districts.
Additionally, representatives of various political parties, councilors, and officials of Mira-Bhayandar will also be called upon to provide assistance. The meeting also mentioned urging councilors to offer their one-month remuneration to help drought-affected farmers.
Mayor Dimple Vinod Mehta said, “Standing with drought-affected farmers is not just about providing help; it is also a time to express gratitude to our farmers. Every section of Mira-Bhayandar city should participate in this social work and support those affected by the drought.”
The meeting was attended by Municipal Commissioner Radhabinod Sharma, Deputy Mayor Dhruvkishor Patil, Assembly Leader Ravi Vyas, Opposition Leader Afreen Sayyed Hussain, and party leader Jai Thakur, along with relevant municipal officials.
