Five accused members of an inter‑state gang preparing to commit a robbery have been arrested by the Crime Disclosure Branch of the Kashiganj and Manikpur police in a joint operation. The police seized a local pistol, cartridges, a sharp weapon, a metal bat, a screwdriver, wireless walkie‑talkies, and a car from the accused.
According to the police, during the investigation of a case registered on 23 August 2026 at the Manikpur police station, the Kashiganj police received a secret tip about a suspect vehicle. Based on the tip, the police team began surveillance in the Kashiganj area. After locating the suspect vehicle, the police acted and detained the occupants.
The investigation revealed that the accused were allegedly preparing for the robbery. In the operation, the first three accused were taken into custody, while two more were later arrested based on interrogation and the secret tip.
According to the police, a sharp knife, two fire‑arm‑related items/cartridges, a pistol, a 2021‑model silver Honda car, two iron weapons, a metal bat, two screwdrivers, two wireless walkie‑talkies and other material were recovered from the accused.
The press note stated that several criminal cases have already been registered against the accused in various police stations across Maharashtra as well as Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and other states. The police also mentioned that multiple cases have been lodged against Shahnavaz in different stations.
In this operation, officials and staff of the Crime Disclosure Branch of the Kashiganj and Manikpur police acted under the guidance of senior police officers. The police investigation into the case is ongoing.
