"MPSC movement takes a political turn"....; Students should stay away from politicians......!

Mumbai, 23 (Anant Nalavde) – BJP MLA Vikram Pachpute accused the MPSE student protest, which has been ongoing for several months, of now taking a political turn, and urged that students stay away from political manipulation for personal gain. He made this appeal on Wednesday here. Most of the students' demands have been accepted, and the government is attempting to resolve the remaining issues through discussion. Pachpute also emphasized that the protest should not become a political arena, and that the focus must remain on the students' future.

At a press conference held at the BJP state office, Pachpute clarified the government's stance on the demands of the MPSE protest. “The Chief Minister is ready to listen to 11 of the initial 12 demands of the protesters. However, the twelfth demand is constitutionally infeasible and cannot be accepted,” he asserted.

He also questioned the demand to remove the MPSE chairman. He noted that Article 317 of the Constitution provides a procedure for removing the chairman or members of the commission, and that the President's powers are mentioned in such matters. Therefore, he clarified that instead of provoking the protest over a demand beyond jurisdiction, it is necessary to consider available constitutional avenues.

No politics on students' emotions…

Referring to the drought conditions in the state, Pachpute said that many students participating in the protest come from drought‑affected areas. He warned that their emotional circumstances should not be exploited for political gain. He also stressed that students need time and opportunities for study rather than protest.

Under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary V. Radhika, the government established a committee on 4 September to study the students' concerns, and the committee has begun its tour. Pachpute claimed that committee members spent nearly eight hours discussing with students in some places and directly heard the voices of about 1,100 students or their representatives. He also urged that if the committee is engaging in such detailed discussions with students, the protesters' doubts, objections, and demands should be presented before the committee.

Political leaders' involvement is increasing…

Meanwhile, Pachpute targeted the opposition by claiming that the president of the Congress Youth Association was participating in the protest. He mentioned that Rahul Gandhi was also said to be participating. He also accused that the BJP's protest had started, and that the entire movement was being shaped into an anti‑government political protest.

Fadnavis will not let the government harm students…

Pachpute said that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis intends to make decisions after listening to the students. He claimed that the Chief Minister stated, “If necessary, the government may be disgraced, but no form of harm should be inflicted on the students,” during a meeting.

Therefore, Pachpute expressed the expectation that the protest should be a dialogue rather than conflict, and that solutions to students' concerns should be sought through communication with the committee and the government.

Questions also arise from the 26 September protest…

Mentioning that the police commissioner in Pune was approached for the protest, Pachpute questioned the scheduled date of 26 September. Pune police have a 48‑hour closure for Ganesh immersion. He claimed that, despite knowing that permitting a protest during that period would be difficult, the date of 26 September was still chosen. He accused Rohit Pawar of attempting to create an image that the government does not allow protests, and called for the halt of this act. No independent response from Rohit Pawar is provided in this statement.

Pachpute claimed that Chief Minister Fadnavis has clarified that record recruitment will be conducted for MPSE in the coming period, and urged students to raise their concerns through available communication channels and keep the protest away from political interference.
